Norovirus cases on the rise

Norovirus cases are on the rise and to prevent it spreading, the advice from the NHS is to stay away from school, college or work if you have had symptoms or are recovering.

Find out more below.

Norovirus, also called the "winter vomiting bug", is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It can be very unpleasant, but usually goes away in about 2 days.

If you have had symptoms of diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting in the last 48 hours please stay off school or work until you have not been sick or had diarrhoea for at least 2 days. This is when you're most infectious.

Do not visit hospitals or care homes during this time.
